Title

Development with FLOW3

Authors

Robert Lemke

Abstract

FLOW3 is a powerful and mondern web application framework for PHP. And FLOW3 is the foundation of TYPO3 version 5. The fact that you can develop both, TYPO3 extensions and standalone applications based on the same framework allows for reusing your code, knowledge and infrastructure in a bigger variety of projects.

FLOW3 introduces many new development concepts to the PHP world, but still makes development much easier even without having to know them. However, a golden rule says: "Don't fight your framework" - so it makes a lot of sense to understand the concepts behind FLOW3 in order to tap its full potential.

In this is a half-day tutorial you'll get a first-hand introduction to the concepts behind FLOW3. Starting with a hello world example, I'll guide you through the Model-View-Controller framework, Validation, Configuration, Dependency Injection. Other important topics are Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Development and Persistence. Finally we'll also visit advanced topics such as the security framework and Aspect-Oriented Programming.

The goal of this seminar is to make you aware about the mechanisms, impart the big picture and give you an idea about how it is like to develop standalone applications and extensions with FLOW3 and TYPO3 v5.
