Title

Going global with TYPO3 (Successfully planning and managing localization and translation of large global websites)

Authors

Andreas Otto, Daniel Poetzinger, Daniel Zielinski

Abstract

Last year we gave an overview about the challenging tasks of Internationalization, Localization and Translation of TYPO3 websites and presented some developments relevant to these fields. This year we will give a live demonstration of how to manage the localization and translation of a large global TYPO3 website. For this purpose we will use BinfordTools, a virtual hardware company located in Miami, USA with 4500 employees in 25 subsidiaries and affiliated companies world-wide. We will introduce and demonstrate different scenarios and workflows using the Localization Manager (l10nmgr) and state of the art translation technology. Among the players involved in this demonstration feature the CEO of BinfordTools, product managers and technical writers in different countries, a localization and translation project manager, translators, and reviewers. While localizing web pages and content from the TYPO3 website we will explain the features of the extension "L10N Manager" and give some ideas for further process automation and continuous system integration.
